I visited Bruges in February when the weather was still bitterly cold and the odd snow flurry punctuated the trip. It felt like a perfect fit for the city.
I remember telling Mr Holiday Addict how pretty it must be here in the run up to Christmas, when I imagined a multitude of sparkly twinkles from fairy lights would wink at you from all around.
And despite us visiting once the festive season had passed, there seems to be an all year round Christmas shop in Bruges which sells some of the cutest decorations I’ve ever seen. I’ve waited 10 months to post some pictures of them, but finally – ’tis the season!
As Bill Murray said in the Christmas movie, Scrooged:
“You won’t be one of those who says Christmas is once a year and it’s a fraud…it’s not! It can happen every day…you’ve just got to want that feeling. And if you like it and you want it you’ll get greedy for it…you’ll want it every day of your life, and it can happen to you.”
Of course, that sentiment could and should apply anywhere, but I can’t really think of a more lovely place to have the Christmas feeling every day than in Bruges.
