My Local Postcards: Manchester Cathedral

I’ve posted before about the value in appreciating our local surroundings, and what we can gain from remembering to just look up.

Last week, I met a friend for dinner in Manchester city centre, but rather than just charge my way through town to the restaurant, I decided to stop and have a proper look at Manchester Cathedral as I walked by. Another reminder that beautiful buildings are all around us if we take the time to actually notice them.

Manchester Cathedral – the first time I’ve ever really looked at it.

Are you ever guilty of overlooking beautiful buildings where you live? I’d love to know what you’ve discovered in your own hometown. Let me know in the comments!

I love seeing the Sydney Opera house up close, and adore driving over the Harbour Bridge on a sunny day – I never tire of it!

You’re right – it is so easy to not see what is all around you!

Hi Jo, you are certainly right – when I’m away somewhere admiring beautiful buildings, I often wonder if that’s how people feel when they visit Liverpool and Manchester – places I am just so used to! I think they must – it’s just so easy not to pay attention yourself.

Oh and I would love to get a chance to appreciate the Sydney Opera House! One day…
